I have completed a year of college. Wow! In a field I'm interested in, a field that allows me to be versatile and help so many individuals. This journey has inspired me, it has prepared me. Has allowed me to become the best version of myself that I can be. I learned that listening to someone, truly listening to understand is far more effective than listening to respond. I learned about interviewing a person to help them arrive at a solution. I learned that a person has all the answers they need to succeed. Even when they're seemingly at rock bottom, they are the only one that knows how to help themselves. We can provide them with materials to succeed, however, if they don't try and use the knowledge that's inside them they will remain where they are. Success is what happens when we answer the difficult questions, the ones that we might not think about. I learned that life truly becomes easier when you have people around to make it more positive.
With all this knowledge, there is one, probably the most important thing that I learned. This was not on a class syllabus, or a learning outcome, it wasn't anything that I imagined learning. I learned how to believe in myself, how to be myself around classmates, at some point during this year I changed. I realized people aren't always going to understand me or my ideas, I realized I don't need anyone to guide my own success. If I can think it, I can do it. While it is a struggle for me, I'm more willing to come out and start new things. I am hoping that by going in without fear of judgment, or the constant need for approval, I will accomplish anything I set my mind to.
Finally, what I realized is that I don't need to start blogging, vlogging, creating content, or any hobby at a professional level. I don't need to have the fanciest graphics, and equipment. That by starting and trying to learn as I go will be much more effective. This is another thing I find difficult because I constantly see this level of success from people and find it difficult to not be at that same level. I need to work at being a beginner and create the content, then work from that.
